Sustainability & Environmental Policy

At PCL Corporatewear, we are committed to conducting our business in a manner that reflects our dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Our vision is to create practical, stylish uniforms that not only meet the highest standards of quality but also contribute to a greener planet. We recognise our responsibility to minimise environmental impact and this policy outlines our approach to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Our Commitments:

Sustainable Uniform Production

    • Circular Design: All our uniform products are designed with longevity in mind, encouraging repair, reuse, and recycling. We aim to minimise waste by extending the lifecycle of our garments through durable materials and easy repairability.
    • Sustainable Materials: We prioritise the use of eco-friendly materials, including recycled fabrics and low-impact textiles such as organic cotton, wherever possible.

Waste Reduction and Recycling

    • Waste Minimisation: We are committed to reducing waste across all our operations. We actively work with our supply chain partners to minimise waste during production and ensure packaging materials are recyclable and plastic-free where possible.
    • Garment Recycling Programs: We offer uniform recycling solutions, ensuring that old and branded uniforms are responsibly disposed of, shredded, and recycled to prevent them from contributing to landfill.

Sustainable Packaging

    • We aim to use as little packaging as possible and will only use where absolutey neccesary.
    • Plastic-Free Packaging: When packaging is the only option we strive to reduce the environmental impact of packaging by using plastic-free or reduced-plastic packaging wherever feasible. We are continuously working toward providing 100% plastic-free solutions for all deliveries.

Carbon Reduction and Energy Efficiency

    • Net-Zero Targets: In line with UK government targets, PCL Corporatewear is committed to reducing its carbon footprint. We are actively working towards achieving net-zero emissions by reducing energy consumption in our facilities, adopting renewable energy sources, and encouraging energy-efficient practices within our supply chain.
    • Distribution Efficiency: We plan deliveries to optimise routes and minimise carbon emissions. Where possible, we consolidate orders and partner with environmentally responsible logistics providers.

Sustainability in the Workplace

    • Staff Engagement: We offer sustainability information and guidance for staff and customers on how to care for uniforms in an environmentally responsible manner, including repair tips, proper washing methods to conserve energy, and reducing fabric wear.

Sustainable Supply Chain Management

    • Ethical Sourcing: We ensure that all materials are sourced from suppliers who uphold strong environmental and social responsibility standards. This includes fair labor practices, minimal environmental impact, and compliance with relevant UK regulations.
    • Supplier Standards: Our suppliers are expected to align with our commitment to sustainability, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and environmental best practices, promoting fair trade and eco-friendly production methods.

Environmental Compliance and Continuous Improvement

    • UK Policy Adherence: PCL Corporatewear complies with all relevant UK environmental legislation, including the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011, and the Climate Change Act 2008. We regularly review our practices to ensure ongoing compliance with current regulations and industry standards.
    • Continuous Improvement: We are committed to reviewing and improving our environmental performance. Regular audits of our processes, feedback from customers and stakeholders, and new technologies will inform our ongoing efforts to minimise our environmental impact.

Social Value and Community Engagement

    • Sustainable Partnerships: We collaborate with local communities and charities to support sustainability initiatives. This includes providing uniforms to underrepresented groups, supporting recycling campaigns, and promoting environmental awareness.
    • Supporting Customers’ Sustainability Goals: We work closely with customers to help them achieve their sustainability targets by providing eco-friendly uniforms and offering tailored solutions that align with their environmental policies.

PCL is dedicated to playing a positive role in protecting the environment through responsible practices, sustainable innovation, and active engagement with our stakeholders. We will continue to assess, reduce, and manage the environmental impacts of our operations, contributing to a more sustainable future.
